So if your child is a fan of the Star Wars franchise here’s a quick list of tips and suggestions to help you plan an awesome birthday party for them, including advice for activities, food & drink, and party bags.
5 Tips And Suggestions For A Star Wars Party
- Star Wars Fancy Dress
With such a diverse range of character and aliens throughout the universe, Star Wars is a fantastic opportunity for fancy dress enthusiasts to let their creativity shine and wear some awesome costumes. However, with many difference sources for inspiration including The Clone Wars cartoons, the Rebels cartoon, the original trilogy, the prequels, the sequels, the spin offs, the books, and the comic books it might be easy to feel a bit overwhelmed, especially if you only have a few weeks to plan the party.
So if you’re on a short timeframe and you’re looking for a quick and simple, yet awesome Star Wars costume. How about a Storm Trooper? This iconic star wars character comes in a wide range of different styles and is a fan favourite, it’s a great choice and it’s hard to go wrong with a Storm Trooper for a Star Wars party.
- Take A Trip To The Cinema
If you’re unsure what activities to organise for your child’s Star Wars birthday party, how about a trip to your local cinema? Don’t worry if the film isn’t currently being shown at your local movie theatre, many cinemas will allow for children’s parties to book films and have a private screening of a film of their choice. So you could arrange of your child and all their friends to watch their favourite Star Wars film in the movie theatre complete with popcorn. What a fantastic birthday experience.
- Lightsaber Piñata
With just a little bit of creativity, you can transform typical part activities into Star Wars themed party games. For example, a piñata is typically made from paper mache and contains candy or toys (see our party bag fillers section for awesome toys). You could make a Death Star piñata with just a few things. Firstly, to make the sphere, get a balloon and fill it with all the treats you want to put inside, then pump air into the balloon and tie it shut. Then use paper mache to make a sphere, using the balloon as a guide. Once the paper mache is dry, you can paint the sphere to look like the Death Star from the original Star Wars movie and pop the balloon, leaving the treats inside the piñata.
Now all that’s left is to get a lightsaber (or decorate a piñata stick to look like a lightsaber) and take turns attacking the piñata until the treats are released.
- Make Some Star Wars Themed Food & Drink
Perhaps one of the more iconic items of food and drink from the Star Wars universe is the Blue Milk. It’s first seen in the first ever star wars movie and Mark Hamill (the actor who plays Luke Skywalker) claimed that it was long-life milk with added blue food colouring, which tasted horrible. However, at the Galaxy’s Edge milk stand, the blue milk served there is a much tastier frozen plant based blend.
You can make your own version of blue milk to serve at the party, using the recipe from creme de la crumb. All you need is whole milk, ice cubes, blue fruit punch, vanilla extract, and some blue food colouring.
